SERVICE & MAINTENANCE
Its unlikely, but possible, that your boat would never need any sort of significant repair. However, every sailboat, power boat, or large yacht it will require periodic upkeep and maintenance. There are some maintenance items most boat owners can learn to handle themselves. These include such items as checking engine oil level or removing the propeller to check the prop shaft for tangled fishing line. But modern marine engines and cockpit electronics can be very complex, and working on these often requires special training and tools. Unless you have the time and desire to acquire those skills and tools, the services of a good marine technician are certainly a smart investment. At the very least your boat engine may require annual maintenance to keep its warranty up to date.
The certified technicians at Ventura Boat Services are expertly trained to service and protect your boat. Annual service is key to keeping your boat ready to go when you are. We are lucky in Ventura County as we can boat virtually year round. In our area, winterization is not really necessary. But regular service remains important to keep your boat in its best working condition. It’s critical to keeping your boat’s exterior clean for several reasons, in addition to showcasing its beauty. It is recommended that your boat be inspected by a profession, such as Ventura Boat Services every 100 hours or engine time. Ventura Boat Services maintenance program includes:
Our maintenance services include the following:
Battery: Your boat’s battery is the heart of your boat. Without the battery, your engine won’t start, and electrical components won’t work. Batteries naturally degrade over time, so this is something you don’t want to neglect. We check the connections for corrosion, and clean the connectors if needed.
Bilge pump: The bilge is the bottom part of the boat that collects excess water, and the bilge pump is the part that removes water from the bilge. If the bilge pump doesn’t work, your boat could sink. We check the pump hoses for debris that could cause clogs. We may also recommend adding a backup bilge pump, if indicated.
